New Delhi, May 12 (UNI) In a strong condemnation of the Panchayat poll-related developments in Nandigram, the Congress today said there were not only allegations of molestation of women, but also charges of molestation of democracy itself.

"We condemn the interference and obstructions in democratic process in Nandigram, "AICC spokesman Abhishek Manu Singhvi told mediapersons, referring to the stoppage of polling in Nandigram by the CPI(M) cadres yesterday.

Asked about the reports regarding the CPI(M) cadres not allowing voters from exercising their franchise to protest against the alleged assault of two of their women activists by CRPF DIG Alok Raj, he said the party viewed both the obstruction of the poll and the incident of molestation seriously.

"The incidents have virtually added insult to injury," he said referring to the violent incidents in Nandigram over the SEZ issue a few months ago.
