1998 nuclear tests strengthened India: Kalam

New Delhi, May 12, 2008 : Former Indian president A.P.J. Abdul Kalam said that landmark decision of the country to declare it a nuclear weapon state has strengthened the nation.

The Atal Behari Vajpayee-led National Democratic Alliance (NDA) government staged the blasts in the northwestern desert range of Pokhran on May 11 and May 13 in the year 1998 and decided to observe May 11 as "Technology Day".
