Thirty-three lankan Tamil refugees arrived today

Rameswaram, May 12 (UNI) A fresh batch of 33 Sri Lankan Tamil refugees, including five children, arrived here today.

Official sources told UNI here the refugees, comprising nine families hailing from Mannar and Jaffna regions in the Island nation arrived at Arichalmunai seashore in Rameswaram with the assistance of clandestine boat operators, paying a huge sum.

After preliminary investigations by the state intelligence and revenue officials, they were sent to the Special Refugee Camp at Mandapam, this evening.

Meanwhile, another group of six refugees sought refuge in the Mandapam Special Refugee Camp, today.

The refugees, hailing from Vavuniya, Trincomalee and Mannar regions had arrived Tamil Nadu recently with valid documents. They registered their names with the authorities and were housed at the Camp.
