Swami Amritachaitanya moves Kerala HC
Kochi, May 12 (UNI) Controversial Swami Amritachaitanya, alias Santosh Madhavan, today filed an anticipatory bail application in the Kerala High Court in a cheating case.
The petition is likely to come up for hearing tomorrow.
Kerala police had yesterday registered a case under section 420 IPC against the 'swami' for allegedly cheating Dubai-based NRI businesswoman Serafin Edwin of Rs 40 lakh in 2002.
Pleading innocence, the 'swami' charged Ms Edwin with having mala fide intention. While the alleged incident had taken place in 2002, she had not made any complaints to the police earlier, he submitted.
Police had raided the swami's guest house premises and the house following reports about an Interpol lookout notice against him in the cheating case.
