IBM, ISB enter into strategic research parnership

Hyderabad, May 12 (UNI) IBM(India) and Indian School of Business (ISB) today entered into a strategic research partnership to jointly assess competitiveness of services sector in Asia.

Addressing newspersons here, Executive Director of the Centre for Global Logistics and Manufacturing Strategics (GLAMS) at the ISB N Viswanathan said research would support companies to redsign their project management structure, reduce attrition and also help the high performance groups to move up the value chain.

Stating that joint research would study mathematical modelling techniques and social networks to enable organisations to improve the way people work, he said the team would use tools such as innovative modelling and forecasting techniques, data mining, social network analysis and stochastic optimization.

IBM India Research Laboratory Director Guruduth Banawar said the research would give priority to 'service-supply' chain and the team would conduct research without concern over intellectual property management issues.

Stating that the six-member team, three each from ISB and IBM, would take up the research, Mr Banawar said the size of the team would be increased, if necessary.
