BJP MLA resigns against closure of Sariksa Road

Jaipur, May 12 (UNI) Ruling BJP sitting MLA from Thana Gazi Kanti Meena has decided to quit his assembly membership in protest against the state government's decision to close Alwar-Sariska Road in the Sariska Tiger reserve area.

Mr Meena told UNI that he today met PWD Minister Rajendra Rathore to demand revocation of the decision but the demand was not met and hence he handed in his resignation to him for submission before Chief Minister Vasundhara Raje.

Mr Meena said he was under pressure from people of his constituency who were demanding re-opening of the road.

''Since I could not met my voters' aspiration, I have sent my resignation to the Chief Minister,'' he said.

Mr Meena said the local BJP block president and other office bearers have also decided to resign BJP membership over the issue.
