Application to summon reporter moved in Nitish Katara case

New Delhi, May 12 (UNI) Defence counsel in the Nitish Katara murder case today moved an application before special judge Ravinder Kaur for summoning the press reporter along with video recording of the sting operation involving key witness Ajay Katara.

Defence Counsel submitted that they want to bring on record a video recording (sting operation) of the most relevent witness Ajay Katara, who during this recording admitted certain important facts.

The Counsel submitted that it had come to the knowlege of the applicant through ''Metro Now'' newspaper that witness Ajay Katara has been paid illegal gratification for deposing in this case.

According to the video clipping, the witness has categorically admitted that he is not a witness to the incident and has done a favour to the complainant being closely related.

The video clipping also shows that Ajay Katara wants to rope in UP politician D P Yadav in false case at the instance of the complinant.

The two accused-- Vikas and Vishal had filed their written arguments before additional session judge Ravinder Kaur on April 30, who would decide the date of pronouncement of verdict on May 14. After hearing the application for summoning, the Court put it up for consideration on may 14.

According to prosecution, Nitish was abducted from the marriage party of his friend Shivani Gaur in Ghaziabad on the intervening night of February 16-17 2002 by Vikas, son of D P Yadav and his cousin Vishal.
