The administration is using ration cards to warn the people not to deploy children as labourers in their offices, factories and houses. If they do so, they may lose their cards.
This was stated in the monthly meeting of District Officers held under the chairmanship of Deputy Commissioner Rakesh Gupta today.
Deputy Labour Commissioner Manorama Rana apprised in the meeting that the District Food and Supply Controller had been requested to get it written on every ration card that the holder would not employ any child labourer.
She said if any person violated this instruction, his ration card might be cancelled, besides prosecuting him under Prevention of Child Labour Act.
In the meeting, the Deputy Commissioner also said the government had given an alternative to the beneficiaries of old age pension to get their pension through commercial banks.
For this, the beneficiary would have to open a bank account in which his old age pension of Rs 300 would be got deposited.
Through the bank account the beneficiary could get his pension in bank, the DC remarked.
Till now, the old age pension was being distributed through Block Development and Panchayat Officers. The DC also directed these officers to get the old age pension distributed by seventh of every month.
