Three SL boat operators arrested
Rameswaram, Tamil Nadu, May 11 (UNI) Tamil Nadu police arrested three Sri Lankan boat operators here today.
Police sources said Eesan alias Parameswaran (29), Mayuran (28) and Suman Cruse alias Prasanna (31), all hailing from Mannar region in the island nation were caught in Indian territorial waters, after their mechanised boat developed a technical snag.
They came here to drop a batch of nine Sri Lankan Tamil refugees for a sum of Rs 10,000 each.
The clandestine boat operators dropped the refugees at Agnitheertham seashore, here and while returning to Sri Lanka, their boat developed a technical snag following which they were arrested, the sources added.
