Software firm 'dupes' employees
Chennai, May 11 (UNI) After gullible public lost their hard earned money to a chain network company, it was the turn of software engineers and diploma holders to lose money to a city-based software firm.
About 1,500 employees of the Vis Pros Technologies Pvt Ltd yesterday thronged the Thirumangalam police station to lodge complaints against the company, which they alleged, had cheated them to the tune of several crores.
They alleged that the firm, which issued advertisements, promising good placements and remuneration, collected a sum ranging from Rs 32,000 to Rs two lakh from several candidates.
However, the company, after ''appointing them'' failed to pay them salary for several months. Those who were put on training were not given placements as the company promised.
As the employees became suspicious about the bonafide of the company, they laid a seige to the head office and demanded their deposits back.
Last night, all of a sudden, the company ''executives,'' including its Managing Director Sivakumar locked up the company and absconded.
Preliminary investigations by the police revealed that the firm believed to have cheated about Rs 80 crore from software engineers, not only from Tamil Nadu, but also from the neighbouring states of Andhra Pradesh and Karnataka.
