NE has potential for development: IIE
Shillong, May 10 (UNI) Indian Institute of Entrepreneurship (IIE) has observed that the Northeastern region has immense potential for development of small and traditional industrial sector.
Speaking at an inaugural function of the State Regional Resource Centre here, IIE Director K Ahmed said the northeastern region has a huge potential for development of small industriial sectors.
The IIE has identifed ten viable clusterns in the entire NE region to this purpose and stressed the need for clusters lie in the fact that small and medium scale enterprises (SMes) could play an important role in the field of economic growth in the region.
Besides ten identified clusters, 20 more would be identified during the current fiscal year, Mr Ahmed said and added that the institute would provide training, research and consultancy to develop these clusters.
These clusters would play a key play to bring economic growth in the region, he added.
