LG for stringent building energy efficiency standards

New Delhi, May 10 (UNI) Delhi Lt Governor Tejendra Khanna today stressed the need for setting up tough building energy efficiency standards to provide for control over construction design practices.

The LG, while speaking at the valedictory session of a seminar on 'recent trends in high rise buildings' here, said setting up of strict energy efficiency building code will not only help in saving energy but also help bring down green house gas emissions.'' Mr Khanna claimed that by increasing ceiling and wall insulation levels, making windows more energy efficient, using solar power and energy efficient lights with power sensor which automatically switch off, people can develop a culture of conservation.

''Use of green technologies such as recycling of used water for gardening and flushing should be made mandatory,'' he added.

Around 400 consulting engineers, architects, developers and project managers attended the seminar organised by Indian Buildings Congress (IBC).

The delegates who attended the three-day affair discussed the latest design and construction technologies, including high rise buildings.
