Heatwave conditions prevail in AP coastal districts
Hyderabad, May 10 (UNI) Heatwave conditions prevailed in Guntur and Prakasam Districts of Coastal Andhra Pradesh, according to the weather office here today.
The maximum temperature significantly rose at a few places over coastal Andhra Pradesh and changed little over Telangana and Rayalaseema.
They were significantly above normal at a few places in the remaining districts of coastal Andhra Pradesh and above normal at a few places over Telangana and at one or two places in Rayalaseema.
The highest maximum temperature of 45 degrees Celsius was recorded at Rentachintala.
However, isolated rainfall occurred over coastal Andhra Pradesh while the weather has been dry over Telangana and Rayalaseema.
The weather office said the heatwave conditions were likely to prevail in Guntur, Krishna and Prakasam Districts for the next 48 hours.
A report from Vijayawada said mercury touched a maximum of 44 degrees Celsius. The heatwave condition was attributed to westerly winds blowing from the dry regions of the North. The minimum temperature was 26.8 degrees Celsius.
