Chidambaram compliments YSR Govt in AP

Visakhapatnam, May 10 (UNI) Union Finance Minister P Chidambaram today complimented the Rajasekhara Reddy Government in Andhra Pradesh for the good work done in the past four years.

Participating at a function organised by the Greater Visakha Municipal Corporation (GVMC), Mr Chidambaram reiterated the the Centre would extend support and cooperation in every possible way to him in his endeavour of taking welfare measures to the people.

Earlier, he laid the foundation stone for a project seeking to improve the basic amenities in the area at a cost of Rs 193 crore and for housing and other infrastructure development programmes under Jawaharlal Nehru National Urban Renewal Mission (JNNURM).

Union Urban Development Minister S Jaipal Reddy also laid the foundation stones for various projects, including drinking water schemes costing Rs 240.74 crore, in the newly merged 32 villages in the Greater Visakha Municipal Corporation and another drinking water supply scheme for Gajuwaka costing of Rs 85.76 crore.

Chief Minister Y S Rajasekhara Reddy launched another programme, extending bank linkage for urban women self-help groups, costing Rs 12 crore on the occasion. He also distributed loans to the tune of Rs one crore for the 'Pavala Vaddi' scheme for women. In all, projects with an estimated cost of Rs 719 crore were launched at Gajuwaka here today.
