204 saplings distributed for 204 Tibetans killed
New Delhi, May 10 (UNI) Exiled Tibetans organised a day-long mass rally here today on the completion of two months of Chinese ''brutal crackdown'' inside Tibet, and distributed 204 Ashoka saplings to honour 204 Tibetans killed during past two months.
The Tibetans have been on a sit-in at Jantar Mantar here since March 14.
Today, the Tibetan Solidarity Committee organised the mass rally which was addressed by eminent social activists and several Parliamentarian from different political parties.
The rally started at 1130 hrs and culminated at 1600 hrs.
On the occasion, the Committee said 204 Ashoka saplings were distributed among the participants in memory of the known 204 Tibetans killed in Tibet since March 10 this year.
It also claimed that more than 1000 Tibetans were wounded and about 5714 arrested following the riots in Lhasa and other parts of the Tibetan plateau.
Tibetans and their supporters throughout the world organised several programmes to mark the day.
The Committee termed ''critical and alarming'' the prevailing situation in Tibet.
