12 Dimasa militants killed in encounter
Guwahati, May 10 (UNI) At least 12 suspected Dimasa ultras were killed today in a fierce encounter between the Army and the militant outfit at Herelu in the North Cachar hills district, adjacent to the Manipur border.
Police said information had been received from the Army that the encounter had occurred in the forest areas of the trouble-torn North Cachar hills district.
The heavily-armed militants belonged to the Jewel group of the outfit, police said.
The group had been active throughout the district and bringing the East West corridor and the broad gauge conversion work practically to a halt.
