Rs 4.60 lakhs looted from Bank,security guard,four robbers killed

Buxar, May 9 (UNI) Four robbers and a security guard were killed when dacoits were escaping after looting Rs 4.60 lakh from Chausa branch of State Bank of India (SBI) under Mufassil police station area in the district today.

Of the four dacoits killed in the incident, three were lynched to death while the robbers shot dead a security guard of the bank when retreating after the loot.

Police superintendent A K Jain said here seven robbers riding on two motorcycles stormed the Chausa branch of SBI and looted the cash from the cashier. While retreating with the cash, the robbers opened fire at the guard of the bank N K Singh who died on the spot.

''When criminals were decamping with cash, villagers caught hold one of them and lynched him to death,'' Mr Jain said, adding two others were also beaten to death by the locals of Mishraulia village when they spotted them fleeing after committing the crime.

''Another dacoit was chased by the villagers on countrymade boat as he had jumped into the river Ganga. Later, he was drowned by the villagers once he was caught midstream'', he said, adding three others, however, managed to escape.

Raids were being carried out to nab the three robbers who managed to escape, Mr Jain said, adding the bank personnel were also being interrogated to seek more details about the incident.
