Quresh community to take out rally on Sunday
New Delhi, May 9 (UNI) Quresh Muslims from all over the country would converge here at Ram Lila Ground on Sunday to highlight the problems faced by the community.
The rally, to be presided over by All India Jamiatul Quresh (AIJQ) president Sirajuddin Qureshi, would seek to formulate a future action plan.
In a statement here, he said the Quresh community was facing enormous problems despite the industry growing at a fast pace today and estimated to reach Rs 2,00,000 crore that includes milk and dairy products, meat, hide and leather, shoes and other byproducts.
''The meat industry alone contributes about Rs 50,000 crore, including export and domestic consumption besides the hide industry,'' Mr Qureshi added.
He said the rally would highlight the apathy of both the Centre and the Delhi government towards the industry.
It would also highlight the ''harassment'' faced by the community members as they were often arrested on ''flimsy'' grounds and their ''livestock confiscated using draconian laws'' such as Prevention of Cruelty to Animals Act, the AIJQ president said.
