Police nabs PO wanted in drug peddling cases

Phagwara, May 9 (UNI) Phagwara Police has nabbed a Proclaimed Offender who was wanted in two different criminal cases of drug smuggling.

Phagwara DSP Harkamalpreet Singh Khakh told newspersons here today that the said PO, Gurdip Singh alias Harwinder Singh alias Bhinda, was arrested on November 13, 2003 after police recovered 26 bags of poppy husks from his possession.

The accused escaped from police custody from Jalandhar bus stand when a police party was taking him to produce before judicial magistrate Kapurthla last year.

Earlier, the accused had escaped from Patiala police custody near Rajpura, when he was being taken to a judicial court.
