Pilgrim died, another in critical condition at Katra
Jammu, May 9 (UNI) A Vaishno Devi pilgrim from Uttar Pradesh died yesterday while another was in critical condition after consuming an adulterated ''bread'' at Katra in Reasi district of Jammu and Kashmir, police today said.
The deceased, identified as Renu, had come here along with her elder sister and brother-in-law on May 6 for Mata Vaishno Devi's darshan.
The women, who were putting up in a hotel at Katra after returning from Bhawan, had a ''bread'' (kulcha) from a vendor in the town.
''The two complained of stomach ace after reaching their lodge and started vomiting. Renu died on way to hospital, while her sister Sajita Bajaj, a resident of Saharanpur (Uttar Pradesh), was referred to the Government Medical College and Hospital, Jammu,'' police said.
The condition of Sajita, who was in the Intensive Care Unit (ICU), was stated to be critical.
The police have registered a case and investigation is on.
