Vigilance sleuths arrest civil surgeon for accepting bribe
Patna,May 08 (UNI) The Civil Surgeon of Sheohar district was arrested from his office by the Bihar Vigilance sleuths today while accepting Rs 28,000 as bribe from an NGO.
Official sources here said acting on a tip off that Civil Surgeon Panchanan Prasad had been demanding Rs 30,000 from the local NGO 'North Bihar Gramin Mahila Seva Sadan' to clear a bill, a trap was laid in Mr Prasad's office today.
Accordingly, Rs 2,000 in advance was paid yesterday. When the remaining amount, with previously marked notes, was handed over to the surgeon by the NGO representatives today, he was caught red-handed and arrested by the vigilance sleuths.
Later, Rs 67,000 in cash and several documents showing huge investments in different companies were seized from his house, the sources added.
