People who disclose income through property need not worry: Phatak
Mumbai, May 8 (UNI) Brihanmumbai Municipal Commissioner Jairaj Phatak today said that land owners who disclose their income earned through their property need not worry about the new BMC policy.
Speaking to reporters here today, Mr Phatak said the policy change in property tax will be implemented because many land lords have been concealing their income earned through their properties.
''The level of property tax is uneven in various parts of Mumbai, which will be made uniform after the new policy, and the land owners will have to pay property tax,'' Mr Phatak said.
Mr Phatak added that people living in slums, ''chawls'' and row houses need not worry about the implementation of the new policy change in property tax.
Reacting to reports in a section of the media which mentioned that the corporation is introducing new tax, Mr Phatak clarified that the corporation is not hiking the property tax nor introducing any new tax.
