One arrested carrying fake currency worth Rs 20,000

New Delhi, May 8 (UNI) Swooping down on fake currency racket in the capital, police have arrested a 30-year-old man from the Shishganj gurudwara area in north Delhi and seized currency worth Rs 20,000.

Dharamjit was arrested close to Shishganj gurudwara area yesterday following a tip-off, said the police today.

Hailing from Faizabad in Uttar Pradesh, the accused was arrested while he was trying to buy a purse from a vendor.

Counterfeit Indian currency worth Rs 20,000, in the denomination of Rs 500, were seized fom his possession.

During interrogation, he said he got the money from a person in Gonda, whom he had met at the railway station.
