Mohammad Shahabuddin granted bail in false affidavit case
Patna, May 8 (UNI) The Patna High Court today granted bail to incarcerated RJD MP Mohammad Shahabuddin in connection with filing of false affidavit before the Election Commission during the last Lok Sabha election in 2004.
Justice Navin Sinha granted bail to Mohammad Shahabuddin after hearing the arguments of both sides.
The RJD MP would not be released from jail as he had already been sentenced to rigorous life imprisonment in connection with kidnapping and subsequent killing of a CPI(ML) leader.
Earlier, a case was lodged against Shahabuddin at town police station on April 22, 2005 on the directive of the then District Magistrate of Siwan C K Anil alleging that he had falsely mentioned the number of pending cases against him during the filing of the nomination papers for a Lok Sabha seat.
