Man stabs woman to death

Jalandhar, May 8 (UNI) A 50-year-old woman was today stabbed to death at Adarsh Nagar Park under Division No 2 Police Station here.

SHO Sukhjit Singh said that one Ranjit Singh (52), who claimed to be the deceased's husband, stabbed Surinder Kaur repeatedly with his kirpan over some altercation when they were sitting in the park.

The SHO said after attacking Surinder Kaur, the accused also inflicted self injuries with the same kirpan. Other people present in the park immidiately overpowered Ranjit and handed him over to the police, he added.

A case under section 302 of the IPC was registered against the accused, who after taking into custody was rushed to civil hospital for treatment, the SHO said adding that the body of Surinder Kaur was also sent to civil hospital for post mortem examination.
