Husbands alcoholism, wife, 2 sons commit suicide in Punjab

Hoshiarpur, May 8 (UNI) A 38-year-old woman alongwith her two sons today committed suicide at her home at Mehalanwali village after her alcoholic husband used abusive language against her sons.

SSP Dr Sukhchain Singh Gill when contacted saiod that Poonam Sharma (38), alongwith her two sons Sahil (12) and Gautam (10) committed suicide by consuming some poisonous substance at her house after her husband Ajay Sharma had left for Una in Himachal Pradesh this morning.

The husband was employed with the Water Supply and Sewerage Board at Una.

The neighbours noticed the deteriorating condition of Poonam Sharma and her two sons and they immediately shifted them to the local Civil Hospital where they were declared brought dead.

In the suicide note recovered from the house, Poonam Sharma stated that she was ending her life as her husband after taking liquor last night had abused her sons, which she did not like.

The police suspect that before consuming poison, Poonam Sharma first fed her sons poison-laced food. The police will record the statements of Poonam's parents before registering any case.
