Fire forces cancellation of flights at Amritsar airport
Amritsar, May 8 (UNI) The Airport authorities at Rajasansi cancelled all incoming flights this evening after the natural vegetation caught fire along the airport runway here.
According to sources at the Rajasansi airport, the fire was caused following the burning of wheat straw in the fields adjoinig the airport.
The fire from the harvested wheat fields spread into the airport area and engulfed the vegetation along the runway.
Sources confirmed that four incoming flights from Delhi had to be cancelled due to the fire. Among the flights that were cancelled were, Delhi-Amritsar-Sharjah and Delhi-Amritsar-Dubai.
