Bypoll: Hooda sticks to development issue
Chandigarh, May 8 (UNI) Denouncing the politics of violence and terror allegedly practised by his predecessors, Haryana Chief Minister Bhupinder Singh Hooda today said he would rather woo the people by way of development in the state.
The former state shief ministers, he said, used ''politics of bullet and lathi'' to terrorise the people.
''But I believe in winning the hearts of all sections of the society through rapid development,'' the Chief Minister said while addressing an election meeting at Khanpur Kalan in Gohana Assembly constituency to seek votes for Congress candidate Jagbir Singh Malik.
He said each vote cast by the people of the area in the byelection would not only strengthen the Congress candidate's hands but would also help in safeguarding the interests of the farmers and weaker sections of the society.
Mr Hooda said the outcome of the byelection would endorse the policies and programmes of the state government.
He said ever since the present government had assumed office, a number of welfare programmes had been implemented for all sections of the society, especially farmers, labourers, weaker sections of the society and women.
