79 detonators, 8 kg IED recovered in Jammu

Jammu, May 8 (UNI) A huge quantity of explosives, including 79 detonators and eight kg RDX-filled IED, were recovered from the militant hideouts during separate searches in Rajouri and Reasi districts of Jammu and Kashmir, an official spokesman said today.

''In a joint search operation conducted by the troops of 60 Rashtriya Rifles (NAGA), under the command of 163 Infantry Brigade and J&K Police, a huge cache comprising 79 Detonators, 13 UBGL grenades, 14 hand grenades and other warlike stores were recovered from Ans village near Budhal in Rajouri district,'' Defence spokesman Lt Col S D Goswami told UNI.

Averting a major tragedy, a joint party of army and police recovered an IED filled with eight kg of RDX explosive, two AK magazines, 120 rounds and one battery during other search operation at Matha Teka in the Kandi area of Rajouri district yesterday.

In Reasi district, troops of 61 RR destroyed another hide-out of the militants at Kerkanwali in the Lancha area of Mahore.

Recoveries from the hide-out included two hand grenades, four UBGL grenades, seven electric detonators, two hand grenades fuse, two AK magazines, 40 pistol rounds, 98 Pika rounds and seven ammunition belts.
