10 yrs' sentence for smuggling opium
Neemuch, MP, May 8 (UNI) A special court here has sentenced a drug peddler to 10 years' imprisonment on the charge of smuggling opium and fined him Rs one lakh.
According to prosecution, a central narcotics bureau team had seized 792 kg opium from a vehicle while it was being conveyed illegally on June 6, 2005. Two people travelling in the vehicle fled.
Rajasthan's Bheelwada-based vehicle owner Vasudev Regar was arrested.
Judge Dinesh Nayak delivered the verdict yesterday taking Vasudev as a co-accomplice.
