Retail sector players are new leaders of farmers: Sahai

Mumbai, May 7 (UNI) The Union Minister for food processing industry Subodh Kant Sahai has said the retail sector players are the new leaders of the farming community.

Flagging off the awards ceremony at the Food Forum India convention here last evening, Mr Sahai urged the corporate food and grocery retailers to work on something new so that the farmers and retail grocers can be a part of the development in the sector.

Growing demand from the retailers will lead the farmers to perform better, he said.

''We are learning from the private retail players and trying to bring about an investment friendly policy,'' the minister said.
