Pondy Govt to issue GO on entrance examination issue
Puducherry, May 7(UNI) Puducherry administration would issue a Government Order(GO) pertaining to the abolition of entrance examination for admission to professional courses in the Union Territory tonight.
Talking to newspersons at Rajnivas, where the Lt Governor, in-charge, Bhopinder Singh hosted a tea party for the legislators and senior officals, Chief Minister N Rangasamy and Education Minister M O H F Shajahan said the Lt Governor had signed a file on the issue this evening and the orders would be issued tonight.
It may be noted that even though Mr Shajahan had announced abolition of entrance examination in the assembly, GO could not be issued, as the Lt Governor had returned the file, seeking clarifications. He also suggested that, since it need to be implemented by an Act, it could be considered next year, as the issue had rocked the assembly twice.
Meanwhile, most of the legislators boycotted the tea party meeting and only Mr Rangasamy, his cabinet collegues, Speaker and two legislators participated.
