Moaist ultras shot dead Sub-Inspector and injure four jawans

Hazaribag, May 7 (UNI) A sub-inspector was killed and four other jawans were seriously injured today when CPI (Maoist) ultras opened indiscriminate fire on a police van at Holangmur of Tati Ghari block under Bishnupur police station, about 35 km from this district of Jharkhand.

Police said SP Praveen Kumar rushed to the site with reinforcement and gheraoed the area, adding that the encounter was still on as the ultras were surrounded by CRPF and Jharkhand Armed Police personnel.

The incident occurred at about 0800 hours when the Ranchi-bound van from Giridih district reached the spot. The ultras hiding inside the jungle, along National Highway 100, opened fire on them, killing the Sub-Inspector (wireless supervisor) of Giridih on the spot.

However, the name of the victim could not immediately be confirmed, police said.
