New immigration rules will give Brits first preference for jobs'

London, May 7 : New immigration rules announced by the Gordon Brown Government have ensured that Britishers will be given first preference for jobs in the future.

According to The Sun, from the autumn, employers will have to prove they are unable to find staff from the UK or EU before looking to other countries outside the region.

Ministers believe it will stop 30,000 immigrants gaining employment in Britain every year.

The move is part of a new points system that will let in only those people with skills the country needs.

Immigration Minister Liam Byrne said British workers will "get the first crack of the whip".

But think-tank Migrationwatch warned that having no cap on the numbers of migrants would lead to more entering the UK.
