CPI begins padayatra against mining
Visakhapatnam, May 7 (UNI) The Communist Party of India (CPI) State Secretary K Narayana today flagged off a week long padayatra at Jerrel village in the district, protesting against bauxite mining in the agency area.
Speaking to UNI, he said that the party was demanding the immediate withdrawal of the g o permitting Ras-al-khima and Jindal companies for extracting bauxite ore in the region.
Around 50 tribals, along with party workers, took part in the padayatra, which passed through those villages and hamlets, which were affected by the mining process. The padayatra would culminate on May 14, he added.
