CM announces financial assistance to families of accident victims
Chennai, May 7 (UNI) Tamil Nadu Chief Minister M Karunanidhi today announced assistance ranging from Rs 50,000 to Rs one lakh to the families of 19 people, who died in accidents and rain-related incidents in the state.
Making a statement under Rule 110 in the State Assembly, he said this followed representations from members of various parties, who intimated the nature of deaths in their constituencies and appealed to the chief minister to provide solatium to the family members of the deceased.
He said after getting reports from the District Collectors concerned, he announced the assistance from the Chief Minister's Public Relief Fund.
Mr Karunanidhi announced Rs 50,000 each to 18 families and Rs one lakh to the family of one Thaj Sherief, who had committed suicide fearing threats form Forest Department personnel in Gudiyatham constituency.
