Centre failed to contain inflation: Dhumal
Shimla, May 7 (UNI) Himachal Pradesh Chief Minister Prem Kumar Dhumal claimed that the UPA Government in Centre failed to contain inflation that is still spiraling, despite having renowned economists at the helm of affairs.
Addressing a public gathering at Jawalmukhi and Paragpur Assembly segments of the Hamirpur Parliamentary Constituency, the Chief Minister further said the state government was playing its own role in checking the prices and had released Rs 70 crore to clear the liabilities of subsidised ration cardholders of previous government and made provision of Rs 90 crore to provide essential commodities to consumers.
Criticising previous Congress government, Mr Dhumal said that it had launched subsidy scheme without making any budgetary provisions and claimed that four months term of the BJP government had been full of unprecedented development and welfare activities that had benefited major chunk of population in the state.
"The election manifesto adopted as policy document of the stategovernemnt was being implemented in letter and spirit and regular monitering being carried out by the assignes authorities'', he added.
