Buddhadeb bats for Third front
Krishnagar, May 7 (UNI) West Bengal Chief Minister Buddhadeb Bhattacharjee today strongly supported the formation of a Third Front to lead the country to prosperity.
Addressing a Panchayat election rally at Tehatta in Nadia district, Mr Bhattacharjee said, '' Third Front is the only alternative and we are trying to form it to lead the country to prosperity. '' The Chief Minister asserted that they had no option but to extend support to the Congress-led UPA only to keep the communal forces at bay.
'' We have supported the UPA because the BJP is an offshoot of the RSS and we want to stop the communal forces from coming to power, '' he stated.
He also charged the Congress-led UPA Government at the Centre with failing to run the country properly.
Mr Bhattacharjee said the state had taken a quantum leap not only in agriculture, but also in floriculture, adding it was possible only through a successful Panchayati system.
