BJP candidate escapes attempt on life

Mangalore, May 7: BJP candidate for the Karnataka Assembly elections S Angara escaped miraculously last evening while he was on a door-to-door campaign at Edamangala in Dakshina Kannada district.

Police said he narrowly escaped when a speeding jeep almost hit him , a three-time BJP MLA from Sullya.

However, Angara and his partymen jumped to safety.

Sullya Taluk BJP President A V Thirtharam, who suffered injury in his right shoulder, was rushed to hospital.

The police have arrested jeep driver Padmanabha Gowda from Pulikkukku and a case of attempt to murder was registered against him.
