Student commits suicide after getting reappear in exams

Hoshiarpur, May 6 (UNI) A student who get re-appear in five subjects in the second semester of Mechanical Engineering committed suicide by consuming celphos tablets in the hostel at local JR Government Polytechnic College last night, police sources today stated.

Pritpal Singh (18), son of Prithvi Singh, of Sector 27-C, Chandigarh, was a student of first year of Mechanical Engineering at local JR Government Polytechnic and had been residing in the college hostel here.

After he had consumed the celphos tablets his condition deteriorated and the hostel students informed the Principal of the college, Rachan Kaur. He was immediately shifted to local Civil Hospital where after struggling for more than three hours, he breathed his last, police sources said.

The Principal when contacted said that Pritpal Singh was upset and frustrated after getting re-appear in five subjects out of the nine he appeared in the second semester.

His body was handed over to his parents after post mortem.
