Imphal, May 6: Manipur Deputy Labour Commissioner L Tomba said five shops would be penalised for remaining open on Sunday in Imphal.

Under intense pressure from workers, the government had asked all shops to remain closed on May 4.

The state Labour department has booked cases of offence under Section 25 of the Manipur Shops and Establishment Act, 1972, against the owners of five shops which were found to have remained open on Sunday, the Commissioner said.
