RS condoles deaths caused by Myanmar cyclone

New Delhi, May 6 (UNI) The Rajya Sabha today condoled the death of over ten thousand people in a cyclone that struck the Irrawady Delta last weekend.

As soon as the House began proceedings for the day, Chairman Hamid Ansari read out a message expressing the sympathies and condolences of the House to the bereaved families.

The House also observed a two-minute silence as a mark of respect to the memory of those who lost their lives in this tragedy.

Several thousand people were feared killed in the cyclone, triggering massive international assistance.
