Poojary clarifies stand on arrack ban
Mangalore, May 6 (UNI) Senior Congress leader and Rajya Sabha member B Janardhana Poojary today clarified that whatever opinion expressed by him on re-introduction of arrack if the party comes to power was purely his personnel opinion and made in the interest of poor section of the society.
Addressing a press conference here he said that the bringing back the sale of arrack in the state was not mentioned in the manifesto of the party.
But after seeing personally the plights of the poor families who have now forcibly surrendered to costlier liquors with ban on arrack he had made this remark so that the poor people could be contended with the arrack instead of spending all their earning on costlier liquor.
"I have the total freedom to express by personal views. No one could stop my voice," he said.
The BJP leaders including Mr Venkaiah Naidu and former Chief Minister B S Yadyurappa were fooling the public and if they have real courage they should have introduced complete ban all liquor instead of partial ban.
They have politicized the issue by saying that Poojary was supporting arrack and it had converted into a major issue. If the BJP leaders were really concerned about poor families they should go for complete ban of all liquor in the state and if they do this, he will salute and complement them whole heartedly, he said.
