Man throws niece into burning oven

Krishnagar, May 6: A six-year-old girl was thrown into a burning clay oven by her uncle at Ghuia village under Chakdah police station in Nadia district today.

Police said Pradip Roy had a fight with his elder sibling Dilip over property last night. Dilip was severely assaulted and had to be hospitalised at the Kalyani JNM Hospital in a critical condition.

Finding Dilip's daughter alone in the house, Pradip shoved her into the burning clay oven.

The child was rushed to the Chakdah state general hospital, police said. She suffered burns on her limbs.

Police later arrested the culprit.
