Lt Governor inspects Port works, houses for tsunami-hit

Karaikal, May 6 (UNI) Puducherry Lt Governor (incharge) Bhopinder Singh today inspected the construction works of the Karaikal Port and the houses for tsunami-affected fishermen here.

Later, presiding over a meeting of various department officials to review the developmental works being taken up in this region of the Union Territory, Mr Singh asserted that the fruits of development should reach the needy.

Stating that mere statistics and high rise buildings could not be considered as a sign of development, he said the standard of living of the underprivileged should be enhanced.

Earlier, the Lt Governor, along with his family members, offered prayers at the Thirunallar Saneeswaran temple.
