Cong demands annulment of poll process in Faridkot distt

Chandigarh, May 6 (UNI) Alleging high handedness and use of police force and muscle power by the ruling Shiromani Akali Dal (SAD) to eliminate the Congress candidates for the Zila Parishad and Block Samiti elections in Faridkot District, several senior Congress leaders led by Avtar Singh Brar MLA(Faridkot) today submitted a memorandum to the State Election Commissioner here to register their protest.

Congress spokesman Bir Devinder Singh said here today that the memorandum has been submitted to register a protest and demand annulment of the poll process.

He alleged that nomination papers were snatched from the Congress nominees by the musclemen of the ruling party in the presence of Additional Deputy Commissioner and the SSP of Faridkot who refused to intervene to prevent the 'murder of democracy'.
