Bodies drowned in Hooghly river found

Howrah, May 06 (UNI) Body of one of the two youths, who drowned in the Hooghly river earlier today has been found on a riverside burning ghat, police asid.

Police sources said, ''Eye-witness report of two minors having drowned is probably not true and we suspect that this body found at the ghat, which belongs to a person aged around 17 years, is that of one of the boys who drowned here.'' Reportedly, one of the boys slipped and fell into the river and the other tried to rescue him and instead fell in himself.

SP Neeraj Singh said that the boys had come to bathe in river, when a strong current carried them away.

The SP added that divers had been pressed into service to retrieve the other body, while the body that was found will be duly identified.
