10,000 pieces of Nepalese coins seized from passenger
Kolkata, May 06 (UNI) Customs officials at the NSCBI airport today seized 10,000 pieces of Nepalese coins from an indian passenger travelling to Bangkok.
Customs officials said Akbar Ali, a resident of Alipur in south Kolkata, claimed that he had purchased the coins from the Rashtriya Bank of Nepal and collecting foreign coins was his hobby.
He also produced documents to prove his claim. The coins in the denominations of nepalese Rs ten, two and Re one and fifty nepali cents worth about nepalese Rs 8000.
Customs officials, however, suspected that the coins were fake and therefore decided to seize them for testing its genuineness.
Mr Ali, however, postponed his journey after the seizure of the coins.
