Insurance scheme for camels in Rajasthan

Jaipur, May 5, 2008: The camel is virtually the ship navigating the desert stretches of India's north western Rajasthan and the state government has come up with a unique insurance scheme for these animals.

Over the past few years, the camel population in Rajasthan has been on the decline, despite the overall growth in livestock in the state. Camel owners have welcomed this camel insurance scheme and feel encouraged to continue with their traditional business.
