Victims' relative arrested for Kalkaji murder

New Delhi, May 5 (UNI) Police today claimed to have solved the May 2 Kalkaji double murder case with the arrest of a relative of the victims and recovery of a blunt object used as murder weapon.

Arun Lal was arrested for allegedly murdering his mother-in-law Asha (58) and her daughter Alka (20) at their Kalkaji home and robbing about Rs 6 lakh, which had been obtained after a recent sale of property.

Police said the accused had admitted to his role in the crime.

''He disclosed that he was unemployed and in need of money.

He was closely involved in the sale of a family plot in Uttam Nagar,'' police said.

Lal first murdered Asha by hitting her on the head with a grinding stone when Alka was out buying milk and once she returned killed her in the similar way.

He then took the money, kept it in his house and then left for his sister's house in Sangam Vihar.

Police has recovered about Rs 5.70 lakh from his house as well as the murder weapon.
